First time &
Uncertified divers!
OUR SPECIALTY IS BEGINNERS!
2 tank discovery scuba dives!
WE'RE WITH YOU FROM START TO FINISH!!
SMALL semi-private GROUPS!

Your first dives are absolutely the most important dives you'll ever make! First Time and Uncertified divers are our specialty! We offer 30+ years of exp. Thats thousands of intro dives with thousands of intro divers.
We use original techniques polished and perfected by years of real experience that you can't find in any of the books!
The idea is small groups: no more than four intros per instructor! Private classes are also available. Small groups allow us to focus on you and to pay attention to details. (Mask, Wet suits, fins & booties comfortable? Too loose? Too tight? Wrong size?) We're a hands-on kind of operation from start to finish.
We take the time to make sure it all fits you and feels right! We even have different sized tanks for different sized people! For folks around 100 lbs, we use smaller easier to handle tanks. larger, heavier people get bigger tanks. We can choose between tanks of 5 different size and weight! From 80 to 300 lbs? XXS to XXXL ? No problem!
We're going to make your first scuba experiences safe, fun and comfortable while, at the same time, seeing all the reef has to offer. Comfort is the key to diving!
How can we do this? AGAIN and AGAIN, we start with & stick with small groups!

No more than four beginners per instructor and we don't allow "divemasters" to lead our beginner dives! Fully trained and licensed instructors only! We don't make as much money as some of the larger shops and corporations initially, but small groups mean we're actually able to give you and yours all the attention you could possibly need. (This kind TLC is what I call good business, as opposed to big business.) This translates into great word of mouth advertising & the return business keeps us busy in slow season. Im teaching the grandchildren of people we taught in the 1970's!
How does it work? It does!
Over the last 30+ years Ive found it best to start our students off the beach in soft sand, in water shallow enough to stand up in. Why? It takes the body, not just the mind, a few minutes to understand that breathing underwater is no trouble at all. Everyone feels awkward and a bit nervous at first. After 40 years of Hollywood nonsense, we expect everyone to feel anxious! This is why, after all these years of teaching, we've stuck with starting our SMALL GROUPS of people in SHALLOW WATER off the beach! WE DON'T believe in starting beginning divers in 30 feet of water off a boat!
After everyone in our small group of divers is moving and breathing
comfortably, we gradually descend by following the gently sloping sand bottom and go the edge of the reef. It usually doesn't take more than a few minutes to relax, but if it takes a bit more time, we'll take that time! By the end of your first dive you'll be weightlessly, effortlessly gliding across a shallow, living, coral reef among multicolored tropical fish and Pacific Green Sea turtles!
Again, by starting your first dives off the beach in water shallow enough to stand up in you'll have the time to get comfortable
long before we hit our maximum depth of 25 to30 feet! That's deep enough to see all kinds of fish, coral & TURTLES, yet shallow enough so that, if need be, we can be back on the surface in just a few seconds. We'll probably stay down from 30 to 45 minutes. It depends upon your air consumption (it'll feel like 10) and we always exit the water with plenty of air! If the dolphins come over to play (rare) and we're getting low on air, sorry, but we're done! One of the first rules of safe diving is to always err on the side of caution!
SECOND DIVE
After exiting the ocean, changing tanks, debriefing and resting, it's time for our second dive. The first half of your first dive we spent getting acclimated, getting comfortable with breathing underwater, using scuba equipment,
learning how to relax and move weightlessly in the ocean (it's like flying). We criss-crossed the coral reef and swam with Maui Marine life.
The difference between your first and second dives is like night and day! On the second dive we go out a bit further, a little deeper, (up to 35 feet) stay out a touch longer, (the more comfortable you become, the less air you'll use!) and we see a LOT more stuff! Fish, corals & curious Pacific Green Sea Turtles are standard on almost every dive! Occasionally we're even lucky enough to see a harmless eagle ray or manta ray flying through the water.
